CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH TEST RIG – USER MANUAL

1. INTRODUCTION

The rig is designed to test the performance and endurance of centrifugal clutches (CVT) used in two-wheelers. It measures cut-in/cut-out speeds, torque, slip ratio, and temperature under controlled conditions.


2. SYSTEM OVERVIEW

  • Input Drive:
    30 kW AC motor (2950 rpm) drives the clutch input via step-up pulley (1:3 ratio).
    Torque measured using a load cell and torque arm.
    Simulated engine braking via brake system.

  • Output Drive:
    Connected to a hydraulic dynamometer and inertia wheels to simulate vehicle load.
    Output RPM measured using a proximity sensor.
    Stall and performance tests conducted through controlled braking.

  • Cooling System:
    Closed-loop oil circulation with heat exchanger, pump, and radiator maintains hydraulic oil temperature.

6. ENGINE SETUP

Honda Activa Engine

  1. Mount engine on bed and lock input shaft via coupling.

  2. Connect output shaft to propeller shaft (4 bolts).

  3. Fix IR sensor for drum temperature measurement.

TVS XL Engine

  1. Mount engine and chain fixture on bed.

  2. Install chain and chain-tightener fixture.

  3. Connect clutch and output shafts.
